RIDERS made the most of the fourth round of the Holeshot Motocross Championship as some great racing lit up the final meeting before the summer break.

First up was the 85cc group, a mixture of both big-wheel and small-wheel riders.

Alex Vaudin had the best ride so far this year with an impressive three out of four victories in the small wheels while Josh Lambourne took second and Jordan Palmeri third.

Bradley Matthews cruised in the big wheels, and was first all day while Dean Chandler from Alderney took second with George Bates in third.

In the junior 65cc, Ethan Brehaut opened his point lead with victory ahead of Owen Waddingham in second and Tyler King in third.

The adult B group took to the gate with 22 starters and it was Frankie Brouard who came out on top all day and he might think of joining the A group after the summer break.

Joe Holden and Aaron Lesbirel swapped seconds while Kieran Robilliard was a steady third throughout.

Birthday boy Dominic Bates claimed top spot in the veterans, the 50-year-old extending his lead with a solid three out of three ahead of second-placed Jon Le Page with Trevor Morris in third.

Josh Beasley also increased his lead in the autos, but had a race on his hands with the debut of Chloe Le Page as both riders did well to manage the rough terrain.

Jersey riders made their presence known in the adult A group.

Sarnian Hamish Moriarty battled with visiting Harry Bertram while Jake Pearce crashed out in the second race, which opened the door for Mark Burbridge to claim some points in third.

The MX2, also riding in this group, saw Sarnian Luke Lesbirel manage two seconds as Jersey's Kieran Gregory and Sam Allix also made the podium.

Mark de la Mare's day was cut short with bike trouble, which followed a scary moment when he hit neutral on the big table top and saw him nose first in the air. To his surprise, he landed the machine but he was ready to bale over the bars.

The summer break has come all too soon the next racing will be at the annual two-day meet on 22-23 September.
