TWO trips to the podium made it a memorable first visit in 10 years to Spa Francorchamps for Dave Lowe.
There was a massive 50-car entry for his race comprising 18 pre-81 Formula Fords, 16 historic F3 'screamers', which are 1000cc full-race single seaters with large slicks and wet tyres, and 16 pre-74 Formula Fords, of which Lowe was one.
'Having a chance to race at the legendry Spa circuit in Belgium was something I could not pass up despite its reputation of sudden weather changes over its 4.7-mile course,' Lowe said.
'It's been 10 years since I last went there so arranged to arrive on Wednesday evening to take advantage of a couple of unofficial sessions on Thursday to relearn the track and the new chicane complex, which brings you back onto the start/finish straight.
