NICK SAUNDERS was a relieved man after spinning out of contention at Bouley Bay on Thursday.

But ahead of today's national hill climb at Le Val des Terres, the good news is that there is no lasting damage.

The big-name Guernsey driver was one of three Sarnians to qualify for both top-12 run-offs of Jersey's national round, but after posting 41.41 first time around, he could only clock 73.73 in the second run-off.

'I went in a bit too committed and span off, but fortunately I span into one of the run-off areas on the hill,' he said.

'So while I was a bit upset not to do better because I wasn't as quick as last year throughout the day, at least I came out in one piece and ready for Saturday.'
