A BRILLIANT summer of hill climbing on Le Val des Terres ended in spectacular fashion with a string of historic performances.

In one afternoon Darren Warwick, pictured, became the first local driver to duck under 28sec. with a fantastic 27.88, Sarah Gaudion set a new women's record of 30.81 and Jerseyman Lee Le Feuvre wrote his name into the Kart and Motor Club record books with the fastest ever ride on two wheels with an outstanding 32.89 on the KTM.

Mark King became the first non-transaxle driver to get into the 30s and throw in the little matter of 13 class records, seven locals under the magical 30sec. barrier, and it added up to one of the finest days in the long history of the sport.

Nick Saunders and James Shorto both went sub 29 and a split second behind Ian Le Messurier, Paul Priaulx, Tim Torode and Ian Shorto went sub-30, but it was Warwick who had most to celebrate with the sub-28 he had been chasing so hard all summer.
