CHARLIE DRISCOLL - remember the name.
In front of a packed Garenne Stand at last evening's 10th anniversary Guernsey Junior Schools Athletics Championships at Footes Lane, the Year 6 St Martin's youngster took a record which had long belonged to one of the legends of island track and field.
Dale Garland had set the Year 6 boys hurdles record two full decades ago, but Driscoll, pictured, erased it in style.
In the heats Driscoll took four tenths off the mark of 9.3sec. with a blistering 8.9 in ideal conditions.
A short while later, in the final, he again showed excellent technique to take a further tenth off the mark and win a place on the top of the podium.
