It is fair to say the conditions in Spain will be a whole lot different and more comfortable than Wilesmith found on the island's west coast yesterday morning in winning the GIAAC 10-mile road championship plagued by strong winds and driving rain.
'I've never known anything like it,' said a wind- and rain- battered Wilesmith after he took the honours in 56min. 35sec.
It was a good performance by the Lee Merrien-coached athlete who, after crossing the line a minute and 24 seconds ahead of Dave Emery, said: 'I feel like I'm starting to get into a bit of form.'
