Green Lions to start the season without Allen

RAMSGATE will provide a daunting opening day Ryman South test this weekend for Guernsey FC – who will also have to make do without Ross Allen.

With the 2016-17 campaign – the Green Lions' fourth in this league – now just three days' away, Tony Vance's side have one training session remaining ahead of the trip to Kent.

Those recent sessions have not included star striker Allen, who is still holidaying and will miss at least his side's opening three games – including the FA Cup home match in 10 days' time.

'It is a significant blow, that goes without saying, but it is what it is and these lads have got to take holidays at some stage,' said manager Vance.

'Ross is one of a number of players who have given incredible service over the years and anybody who questions his commitment should take a long hard look at themselves.

Also without Jamie Dodd and Glyn Dyer through injury, GFC will be taking on one of the league title favourites in Ramsgate.

It is a ground at which GFC have never won in three previous attempts and given Ramsgate's impressive pre-season form, it will be a difficult ask this time.
