Rovers will go top if they beat the champions

ROVERS boss Kevin Gillease says you should ‘write Saints off at your peril’ as his unbeaten Priaulx side prepare to travel to Blanche Pierre Lane this evening.

A win for his team would see them end the day top of the league table, as they currently sit just two points behind Bels and North with a game in hand on both sides.

St Martin’s, who are currently being managed by caretaker boss Jason Leaman, come into the fixture off the back of a 3-2 win away at Sylvans and would go up to second in the table with a win tonight.

Rovers’ last outing was a 7-0 win against Rangers and they have already picked up 10 points from their opening four league encounters.

‘We are in a strong position, we have a full squad available for the first time this season probably,’ said Gillease.

‘Training has been going well, the results have been going well, and now it is just a case of turning up and applying ourselves.

‘It is hard to know what to expect from them with the change in manager and a bit of a change in players, but the main thing is that we look after ourselves and do what we have to do.’

Saints’ most recent home league game was the remarkable 5-4 defeat against Vale Rec, but Gillease says they are a side who will cause Rovers problems no matter what.

‘They are the sort of team that can score goals from anywhere, somebody always seems to pop up for them.

‘We have not been too successful at BPL over the last few years so it is going to be difficult for sure.

‘I think this is the best chance we have had in a while, though, it is a game we are really looking forward to.

‘It would be really nice to get the win and go top. However, at this stage of the season being first does not mean too much, so the main thing is that we get three points.’

The game kicks off at 7.30pm.
