Home spared just three inches above the flood

THE Queensland home of some former Guernsey residents escaped flooding by just three inches.

But other families in their street were not so lucky.

Last Wednesday, Richard and Sue Schofield evacuated their home in Brisbane, fearing it would be claimed by the rising flood waters.

The couple stayed with friends and returned in the morning to inspect the damage.

'As we went around the corner, we prepared ourselves for the worst,' said Mr Schofield in an email. 'Amazingly, the water only rose another three inches during the night, just under our floorboards.'
