Brehaut still a force to be reckoned with

PAUL BREHAUT demonstrated that age is certainly not a barrier on Sunday when he took victory in the Velo Club's first road race of the season.

Contested over four laps of the undulating Vazon circuit, 44-year-old Brehaut (pictured) out-sprinted Rob Smart and Tony Bleasdale on the uphill finish at the end of a race punctuated by cold, blustery and slippery conditions.

A total of 57 riders took to the start line and in the division one race the pace was brisk from the start.

A flurry of attacks from Smart, Stuart Wallbridge and Alex Wilson were repeatedly neutralised by Tobyn Horton and Bleasdale with Horton doing huge chunks of work into the headwind along the west coast.
