Postal votes grow to a record 1,685

A RECORD number of postal votes have been issued ahead of Wednesday's general election.

A RECORD number of postal votes have been issued ahead of Wednesday's general election.

Applications for them closed at noon yesterday.

A total of 1,685 postal votes have been sent out - 9.6% more than in 2008 when 1,537 were issued.

It represents almost 6% of the island's 29,745 eligible electors.

Deputy registrar-general of electors David Robilliard was pleased with the increase.

  • Voters have until noon on Wednesday to deliver their completed postal ballot slips, either by post or else by hand to the Royal Court House, St Peter Port.
