ITV has commissioned Maverick Television to produce a 12-part series looking at life in the island seen through the eyes of the PEH staff.

The working title for the series is Island Hospital and it will be aired later this year.

Maverick, which has previously produced shows for ITV1 including Children's Hospital, My Child's Not Perfect and Billy Connolly's Route 66, will be working alongside the Health and Social Services Department.

'We were approached by Maverick some time towards the end of last year,' said HSSD director of corporate services Richard Evans, pictured.
