GUERNSEY and Alderney are keen to work with their Channel Island neighbours to harness the potential of marine renewable energy, representatives have said.

A willingness to share 'common interests and ideas' was expressed following the second political summit held by the Channel Island Marine Renewable Energy Forum in Jersey yesterday.

Paul Arditti, who is chairman of the Policy Committee for Alderney, hailed the island being welcomed as a new signatory to a joint statement of intent, which was originally signed in February last year.

Mr Arditti, pictured, said he left the conference with a sense of unity between the islands and willingness to work together on regulatory framework and other renewable energy matters – without competition.
