Salerie Battery could lose its car parking if plans to turn the space into a seating area with a maritime centrepiece go ahead.

The cobbled area to the north-west corner of Salerie car park is unregulated by parking restrictions, which has led to problems with vehicles being abandoned there.

St Peter Port constables, the parish floral group and Culture and Leisure have put together plans to transform the area with 12 planters and six benches.

Three of the planters would be used to block the entrance to the area to prevent vehicles being abandoned again.
