POLITICIANS are questioning whether any local contractors will be used to build the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre, as was promised.

In February, States members agreed to appoint Harbour View Construction Ltd as main contractor for the £24m. project.

Housing minister Dave Jones, pictured, said that, following feedback from the trade, he had doubts over the company's pledge that it would use local sub contractors.

'I'm concerned, given comments made to me by local contractors, where they will find the people to work on this project,' he said.

'I will be deeply unhappy if this contract runs into trouble in any shape or form with the assurances I was given.'

Both HSSD and Treasury would not say if the contract had been signed yet or comment further.
