SARK has no option but to reform, its government has been told by the UK.

In a strongly-worded speech to Chief Pleas, the UK minister with responsibility for the Crown Dependencies, Lord McNally, said it was not about the UK government challenging Sark, or imposing Whitehall solutions.

'It is about Sark fulfilling the responsibilities as a Crown Dependency in a way that is right for Sark,' he said.

'It is for you to decide - not me. You must set priorities which reflect the priorities of the people of Sark. But as a candid friend I have to tell you - stop the world we want to get off is not an option.'
