THE casting vote of Environment minister Roger Domaille scuppered plans by Kings Health Club to build a block of 13 flats at the world's second oldest tennis club.

The 3-2 vote at yesterday's open planning meeting delighted neighbours and tennis playing members, who would have lost two courts at the club where British number two Heather Watson learned to play.

But it disappointed the owners, who said they would consider their next move once they had studied the written decision.

Neighbours and players turned up at the meeting to oppose plans to build the apartments on the two easterly courts and create a new access in Les Croutes.
