MAJOR plans to develop Admiral Park have finally been approved in a move that is hoped to boost the island's economy significantly.

Comprop yesterday secured outline planning permission to build residential, office, hotel and leisure facilities at the site, off Elizabeth Avenue.

Plans also include a potential much-anticipated new cinema at the site if a suitable operator can be found.

The plans were passed unanimously by Environment at yesterday's open planning meeting, despite concerns being raised over traffic and parking shortcomings.

In a bid to address these, conditions have been attached to the plans that include the need for the developers to draw up car park management and travel plans – to be approved by the board.
