U-turn over Income Tax Office's move to delay returns

A DECISION to delay tax return filing has been overruled.

The office sparked outrage when it announced earlier this week that islanders would not be able to file online forms until February and paper forms until March, but they would still be fined if returns were not filed by 30 November.

But yesterday Treasury's political board announced it had overturned the decision after agreeing customer interests should be put first.

As a result online returns will be available 'no later than Monday 20th January'.

An earlier date for paper returns will be announced in due course.
