Condor suspends its ferry services

ALL Condor cargo services have been suspended today, as eight metre-high waves and 50-knot winds were forecast.

The ferry company has also warned customers that there could be more problems tomorrow.

It is unusual for Condor to cancel the Commodore Clipper and Goodwill ferries.

Condor Ferries CEO James Fulford, pictured, said the larger ferries could cope with the predicted waves – although they would need to travel at five knots and it would cause discomfort to passengers and crew.

But the winds meant that it was too dangerous to berth at St Helier or St Peter Port.

'It is very rare that neither Clipper nor Goodwill are able to sail, but the extreme weather conditions have forced the cancellation of all of our services,' Mr Fulford said.
