Full report into cost of ambulance service to be released

HEALTH and Social Services has finally committed to releasing full details of how much it costs to run the ambulance service.

In November it released a review of the service, but removed key figures like a breakdown of how much management was paid compared to staff.

It also redacted details of alternative models. These deletions have been challenged under the new information code by the Guernsey Press.

The initial request to release, which had to be made to the chief officer, was turned down right at the end of the 20 working day period allowed to consider it.

The Guernsey Press appealed that decision to the minister – there is no timeframe in the code for a response to an appeal.

The department now intends to release the unredacted version of the Lightfoot Review on Friday, minister Mark Dorey said yesterday.
