Martel Maides director and auctioneer Nick Renny said it was incredibly unusual for a property to be sold without any kind of minimum reserve, but the property in question was subject to a court order to sell it 'full-stop', whatever the price.

A 'local family' ended up securing La Tourelle in Icart Road for £1.135m, having beaten off competition from three other bidders, in front of a crowd of around 80 people in the property's garden.

The traditional family home, features four/five bedrooms, with a considerable garden area and pool.

Mr Renny said they were happy with the end result of the auction for what was a 'beautiful property' that was on offer.

Earlier he had told the crowd of people that the property would sell, whatever the interest.
