'Information was withheld in bus contract tender'

INFORMATION about Guernsey's bus tender was withheld from Island Coachways, which forced the former operator to pull out of the process, company managing director Hannah Beacom has claimed.

But the Environment Department has confirmed that other businesses are still involved in the tender process.

Island Coachways ran the service until 2012 and had planned to tender for it again, to try to wrench control back from incumbent operator CT Plus.

But in a shock move at the start of this month, Island Coachways pulled out of the process.

Ms Beacom, pictured, said the company was now ready to break its silence over what had gone wrong.

'In order for us to prepare our tender proposal, we made a number of requests for information,' she said.

'Where the information was forthcoming, it was not provided in a timely manner or in the detail that we needed.

'This made it impossible for our team to cost many areas of the tender.'
