Help for first-time buyers 'in the first half of next year'

A SCHEME to help first-time buyers afford a deposit could be brought to the States in the first half of next year.

Housing minister Dave Jones, pictured, said his department was exploring such an initiative with Treasury and Resources.

It follows following a successful Budget amendment from Deputy Heidi Soulsby for a collaborative report focused on a potential 'young buyer' scheme.

'Further to Deputy Soulsby's Budget amendment, Housing and the Treasury and Resources Department are currently exploring the benefits of a scheme that would help first-time buyers afford a deposit and will report to the States in the first half of next year,' he said.
