Mamerta Ray, 47, pictured, has shopped at the Co-operative Grande Marche store for the past 10 years and had no reason to complain.

But the pharmacy dispenser started to notice a drop in temperature over several weeks despite wearing a thick coat and scarf.

'After shopping about one hour I feel like I have been locked in the freezer.

'When I go now I quickly dash in, grab what I want and rush out because of how cold it is – I couldn't stop to browse for things.

'This shop is one of the best, and I do not want to have to go somewhere else, but if it continues like this I will have no other choice.

'I have always been very happy with everything, however, I now feel very disappointed and unheard.'

A spokesperson for the Channel Islands Co-operative confirmed the heating was broken and 'work to fix it was under way'.
