Meningitis B vaccine could be introduced in Guernsey
MENINGITIS B could soon be vaccinated against locally – if Health and Social Services decides to press ahead with a business case.

After it was announced the NHS had managed to negotiate a new deal with drug manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline to slash the cost from £75 per dose to £19, an HSSD spokeswoman said the board would be meeting today to consider whether there was a business case for its introduction.
Public health director Dr Stephen Bridgman said the disease fatality rate was roughly one in 10, with 10-20% of survivors being left with a disability following the illness.
There were many steps to be taken before a decision on whether to introduce can be taken, he said.
