Travel agents urge islanders to stay away from Tunisia

'SAFETY is paramount' and islanders should avoid travelling to Tunisia at all costs, according to those in the tourism industry.

Their comments come after the UK Foreign Office updated its travel advice for Tunisia, saying the chance of another terrorist attack in the country was 'highly likely'.

It has advised against all but essential travel to the country and told those there to return home.

On 27 June, 38 holidaymakers were killed in the resort of Port El Kantaoui, just north of Sousse. Of these, 30 were British nationals.

Association of Guernsey Travel Agents president Natalie Hughes was unaware of anyone from Guernsey in Tunisia currently.

'In line with the Foreign Office's advice, we would advise that anyone who is in Tunisia independently should make their own way home immediately.
