JOEY could have a new home at Oatlands, as part of the redevelopment of the site which could include a play barn, luxury cinema and interactive games facility.

The iconic Trislander has been kept at Guernsey Airport since its 40 years of service ended last summer.

But now Oatlands owner Chris Coles and Aurigny have announced that Joey's World could be created at the St Sampson's attraction.

'We want to reimagine Joey so that he has universal appeal, through books and even film,' Mr Coles said.

'We hope that Joey's World will include a simple simulator so that children can "fly" from Guernsey to Alderney and back and have supervised access to the cockpit at all times.'

Aurigny CEO Mark Darby said he was delighted with the idea, which came about after Mr Coles contacted the airline last summer.

'His enthusiasm for displaying Joey was infectious and we knew immediately that it was the perfect home for our aircraft,' Mr Darby said.

'Islanders who love our Trislanders will be able to visit whenever they want and the proposal to store Joey under cover is important, because the aircraft must be protected from the elements.'
