Jamie Harvey, 18, of 109, Les Genats Estate, Cobo, Castel, who admitted causing £832.29-worth of damage, was sentenced to 90 hours' community service for what was described as 'mindless behaviour'.

Judge Graeme McKerrell said offences like this reflected badly on Guernsey.

'Whatever the circumstances, whatever the background, these offences are unpleasant and put everybody to a lot of time and trouble having to put right the damage that has been caused.'

The court heard how between 16 and 18 February, a rock had been used to smash three of the women's toilets as well as part of the sink.

Two windows were also smashed and a cubicle in the men's toilet was broken.

The total cost of the damage was £1,133.04.

Crown Advocate Fiona Russell said that, on 1 May, Harvey handed himself in to the police voluntarily.
