REPAIRS to Trident V are progressing well, with managing director Peter Wilcox saying that the vessel could be back in the water on Friday evening, barring any unforeseen problems.

The ferry has been out of service since it struck something beneath the waterline in thick fog on 22 April and is currently out of the water at Marine & General's boatyard for repairs.

Mr Wilcox confirmed that the skipper on duty at the time of the incident is currently under suspension while the investigation is under way.

The rest of the vessel's crew have been interviewed in order to build up as clear a picture as possible.

Mr Wilcox said he was pleased with how the work had been progressing.
