Sarah Morris is a Year 6 teacher at Melrose School and this was the fourth year she has taken on the 30/30 cycling challenge to raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice.

But as well as riding for an hour each day during May, she decided that she could get her pupils to help her raise even more money.

So with the 30/30 coming to an end a special school event was held, with Mrs Morris riding a static bike in the school garden while pupils paid to throw wet sponges at her.

'I'm amazed by how much money the students have brought in,' she said.

'We've managed to raise about £900, which is 250 sponges.'

She said she was relieved it was a warm sunny afternoon because she got soaked.

Students from all year groups joined in the fun.
