Big education debate will have to wait

REBUILDING La Mare de Carteret High School and the future of secondary education might not come back to the States this year, its committee president has revealed.

Previously Deputy Paul Le Pelley, pictured, apparently pledged to return with proposals in November to overturn the previous States decision to end selection and review the possible closure of one secondary school.

The latest news has been criticised by National Union of Teachers regional secretary Andy Woolley, who said the hesitation 'was not in anyone's interest'.

But Deputy Le Pelley said the committee never said it would come back in November.
