The St Peter Port north deputy, pictured, who voted to scrap selection, announced his decision yesterday afternoon as momentum began to build for the whole board to step down, with the States' head

politician Gavin St Pier among the latest to call for the committee to go.

Deputy Leadbeater said it had been a very difficult decision.

'But I believe it is in the best interests of the areas under the mandate of the committee, that the States is content with the population of it and has confidence that it can deliver.'

It comes as the Policy & Resources president advised the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture on Saturday to resign.

But if they choose not to, Deputy St Pier yesterday warned, he would have no choice but to support the vote of no-confidence being led by Deputy Emilie Yerby.
