Paul Chambers, who has studied fine art and theology, has created a cross and tomb to portray the Easter garden in a visual way.

He has also made a crown of thorns out of 280 metres of barbed wire, which is hanging from the ceiling of the church.

Mr Chambers made the cross, with the help of his tree surgeon friend Simon Marshall, out of logs, and the tomb out of papier-mache. They are also going to get several trees and plants to fill out the garden. He has been working on it every day for the past few weeks.

'We had the opportunity as a church to do something a bit different and it has been a really lovely project to work on,' he said.

'My vision was something a bit more different and art-based.

'Most Easter gardens are very small, but we wanted to do something more visual.

'It is about art exploring something that we don't always have time for.'
