A1 Crab Supplies’ Christmas raffle once again proved a huge success, raising a total of £22,400.

Business owner Bernie Le Gallais first held the raffle for friends and family in 2022, but it outgrew his expectations and raised £17,500.

Mr Le Gallais and his family decided to run another raffle last Christmas, with the fundraising total once again surprising him.

‘The RNLI Guernsey is an important charity for us to support, not only because of our line of work, but also as born and bred Guernsey residents, we understand just how dangerous the sea can be and what the volunteers actually risk every time they are called out,’ he said.

‘The Guernsey public seemed to agree with us by giving us their support again this year.

‘We could not do this Christmas draw without the generosity of the donations of prizes from many businesses but also members of the public.’

The raffle prizes included vouchers, staycations and hampers among.

Some people bought seafood platters to be prizes in the raffle and other businesses donated prizes.

‘The many offers of help we have received to sell tickets and of course the actual support shown by people buying the tickets, especially as money is a little bit tighter this year,’ said Mr Le Gallais.

‘A1 Crab Supplies would like to thank everyone for their support, no matter how big or small.’

Jim Le Pelley, chairman of the lifeboat management committee, said that the service was incredibly grateful for the donation.

‘It’s absolutely amazing that they have done this once again,’ he said.

‘We realise what an enormous amount of effort has gone into this and are very grateful.’
