Zunino hits magic 10 for victory

THE race to determine this year's Specimen Fish Hunt champion went down to the wire.

At Friday's registration for the third and final round, the atmosphere was tense.

Caleb Zunino entered the competition leading with six fish, with six others on his tail, all of whom had five fish.

At the first weigh-in on the Saturday morning, Zunino returned with a bass of 8lb 11oz and a lesser-spotted dogfish of 2-3-15.

Last year's winner, Marc Eppelein, returned with a bass of 5-13-1 plus a red gurnard of 1-6-14, which put Zunino under more pressure to maintain his lead. So it was back out on the hunt.
