THE Guernsey juniors were the toast of the Horse of the Year Show after an outstanding overall victory in the three-way team match at Chemin Le Roi.

With the second leg of both the junior and senior team events concluding another memorable five days, there was palpable tension going into both with the hosts, Jersey and the UK all having gone clear in the respective first legs earlier in the week.

However, the second leg course is designed to separate the best from the rest and the Guernsey junior proved that they had what it takes to beat top opposition.

First to go Georgia Renouf led the way expertly for the home quartet, knocking over just a single fence on Irish Lethal Weapon and that was to be the best of the opening rounds from all three teams as both Jersey and the UK accrued eight faults apiece.

Things just got better for Guernsey in the next round as a composed Faye Domaille and Shenanigans produced a faultless clear round, the only one of the entire second leg, to put Guernsey firmly in the driving seat.
