New boys start with a victory

THE new boys in basketball are off to a winning start.

Martin Yabsley's X The Finish Line team edged a hard-fought and close battle in what promises to be an intriguing Legis Division One season against a Le Mont Saint Two side who were left to rue missed shots in the second half.

The sides were evenly matched in the first quarter, which ended 15-all, before XTFL edged ahead in the second period with their player-coach by now in full flow on the court after starting the game on the sidelines.

Yabsley, who did not enter the game until seven minutes had elapsed, finished the first half with a game-leading 18 points, one ahead of LMS2's Shek Sesay, who was the focal point of their attack in the opening 20min. which ended 35-32 in favour of the blues.
