THE Legis League division one basketball champions lost their big man in the summer when Martin Yabsley opted to head up the new XTFL side.

But Latvian Andreas Vagounas has quickly shaken off the rust of four years out of the game and, in direct opposition to Yabsley at Beau Sejour on Friday night, produced a performance which was as significant individually as any on the night.

Vagounas and his predecessor went head-to-head and although Yabsley finished the game top scorer with 21 points to his name, it would probably have been many more but for the attentions of the Latvian newcomer who may be an inch or two down on the 6ft 10in. Guernsey star, but certainly can handle himself.
