ROVERS captain Richard Powell is being investigated by police after an alleged spitting incident during the weekend's Guernsey FA Cup match with North.

Powell was sent off for headbutting North striker Simon Tostevin and, as he left the pitch, was said to have spat on Tostevin's mother, who was watching the game and reportedly spoke to him on his way off.

She has chosen to press charges and the matter is being investigated by the police, who are still interviewing witnesses before making a decision on whether to charge Powell.

In the build-up to the incident, Tostevin was booked for catching Powell with a stray arm, something that Tostevin was booked for, with Powell retaliating.
