Hastings United 4, Guernsey FC 1

DESPITE their second successive Ryman South defeat dropping them to 11th place, Tony Vance says that Guernsey FC 'will fight back and recover' in the coming weeks.

The Green Lions were beaten 4-1 at Hastings United on Saturday in a game that saw both full-backs Nigel Hutton and Joe Alvarez come off injured and Jamie Dodd play through both ankle and wrist problems.

It means that GFC have only one win in their last six games and are desperately searching for some form, but, despite the situation, Vance is remaining upbeat.

He was also pleased on the whole with this particular performance, albeit not the result.

'In the first half we were probably the better side, just, but then we conceded a sloppy second goal at the worst time and that made it difficult for us,' said Vance.

'Most certainly it wasn't a 4-1 game, the two late goals flattered them big time and we could well have got something out of it, but we are in a spell at the moment where everything seems to be against us.'
