Cortez steps aside and LMC to change

GUERNSEY football will have a new fixtures administrator after Garry Cortez decided to step down from his GFA and LMC duties with immediate effect.

Due to personal health reasons, Cortez will hand over the reins to a successor, but only after he has completed his final duty of drafting the fixture list for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign.

He will continue in his other role as North's club president and his work within local football administrator in recent years has been praised.

'Garry's commitment to local football at GFA and LMC level over the last four seasons has been considerable and should not be understated,' said GFA chief executive officer Gary Roberts.

'To lose someone with Garry's passion and desire to get the job done, often with little thanks and sometimes in very testing circumstances, is a significant blow.'

Those views were echoed by LMC chairman Brian Horsepool, who will be part of the implementation of a new-look administrative structure in the local game.
