Guernsey FC 4, Molesey 2

THEY entered this big Footes Lane midweek clash as the league's form team and Guernsey FC lived up to their billing in some style last night.

A run of good form in recent games has seen mood lifted around the Green Lions camp, but they were well aware they faced their toughest task yet with the visit of Molesey.

Free-scoring and flying high in the league, this clash between the top two in Ryman South's official form guide promised to be spectacular.

In truth, though, it was entertaining and played at a high intensity, but ultimately far more one-sided than most people would have imagined pre-game.

On another night the Lions would have won this far more handsomely than the final two-goal margin they did manage.

There were patches where they were not at their best and there was still a tendency to give the ball away cheaply on occasion, but on the whole, this was a highly-encouraging night for the hosts.

After James McShane had given Molesey the lead against the run of play, Jamie Dodd equalised for the hosts before Dom Heaume gave them a half-time lead.

Craig Young made it 3-1 after the break before Dre Grobelar got one back for the visitors but Heaume made the game safe with his second.
