Weeks after declaring he was leaving BMW, there has been speculation about the Guernseyman's future, but yesterday's news confirms an exciting season ahead.

Priaulx is one of a four-man Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team and will race in all rounds of the championship, including the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans race in July.

The series gets underway in April at Silverstone, near where the announcement took place yesterday at the team's Greatworth Park headquarters.

A delighted Priaulx cannot wait to get started.

'This is going to be an amazing season and all I want to do now is get behind the wheel of the new car,' said the 41-year-old three-time world touring car champion.

'Being in on the launch of a new car is always exciting and I am sure all of us are going to have a lot of fun driving the car.

'I grew up as a massive fan of the iconic Ford GT40, so to now be able to represent the company and be part of this programme 50 years after Ford's historic win at Le Mans is a great honour.

'Racing at the Le Mans 24 Hours is always special, but I am also looking forward to racing this car on some other legendary tracks.'

As well as Priaulx, the Ford team will include Marino Franchitti, Stefan Mucke and Olivier Pla.
