Lewes 1, Guernsey FC 0

THAT horrible 2016 away stat just won't go away – played lots, not won one.

The Green Lions battled bravely on their first visit to the oddly named The Dripping Pan ground in Lewes, but they were to succumb to a 50th minute goal which sees them slip back to 17th in the table.

On Jamie Dodd's 200th appearance for the club, Tony Vance made just one change with Marc McGrath coming in for Thomas Dodds, but the youngster did not warm the bench for long as he was soon needed to replace Dom Heaume, who went off with a head injury.

The game was still goalless at the break, but the hosts took the lead with 49 minutes gone and after neat approach play Jamie Brotherton scored.

Craig Young nearly found an instant equaliser but his shot was deflected wide and soon after Ross Allen's cross clipped the post.

Tardif was out quickly to get a vital touch on the ball to prevent the home side from doubling their lead, while at the other end McGrath looked to chip keeper Winterton, but the No. 1 saved brilliantly.

Allen then fired into the side netting, but as Green Lions fans have become accustomed to when the side travel, it was not going to be their day.
