Guernsey Ladies make it three wins from three

WITH a remarkable 11-try destruction of Ashford away, Guernsey Ladies sit top of the NC South East South One table having scored the little matter of 168 points in three matches.

It is a record almost matched by nearest rivals Lewes, who have also won three from three and have just passed the 100-point mark for the campaign.

Vicki Rang ran in four of the Guernsey tries and Hannah McLennan registered her second hat-trick of the season, while Tanya Scholtz added a couple, and Lauren Finch and Aiga Vecmane one apiece, the latter on debut.

'For me the most rewarding part of the performance was seeing an improvement on decision-making, especially when we were making breaks. We worked hard to get players in support and if support wasn't there we had learned not simply to throw the ball away,' said Guernsey Ladies Rugby coach Chris Griffiths.

'I was also very pleased with our defensive display, keeping a 0 on the scoreboard when you are away from home is never easy and we managed it this week having given away one soft try in each of our last two matches.'

Guernsey are next in action against fourth-placed Canterbury in just under two weeks' time.
