Guernsey FC 0, Ramsgate 3

AFTER two positive steps forward on the road, Guernsey FC took a big stride backwards on home soil on Saturday.

In-form Ramsgate put Tony Vance's side to the sword in the first half, establishing a 3-0 lead inside the opening 45 which they maintained fairly comfortably in the second to leave Footes Lane with a thoroughly deserved three points.

'That was quite possibly the worst 45 minutes in a long time from us,' said a bemused GFC manager.

'They were a decent side, to be fair, but irrespective of that we did not have enough fight, we were reactive, we were outmuscled, we were outplayed and basically we could not string two passes together.

'The only bonus was that it was only 3-0 at half-time,' Vance added.

Aaron Millbank both won and converted the sixth-minute penalty that set Ramsgate on their way to victory before the impressive Alfie Paxman doubled their lead and Oliver Gray's firm header made it three two minutes before the interval.

GFC improved after the break – it would have been hard not to – but they could make no inroads into the deficit.
