Juniors Chloe Gaudion and Chloe Domaille are among the debutantes, along with Sally Ingrouille, who will face Jersey at Royal Jersey GC, Grouville, on 10-11 September.

Gaudion has also been named in the Guernsey team for this weekend’s Junior Inter-Insular at La Moye, which reverts to being played off scratch this season with fourball and singles sessions.

That will come at the end of a busy few days for the Island junior girls’ champion as she has been representing Hampshire with distinction in the South Region Junior County Match Week at Kings Hill Golf Club in Kent.

Gaudion got off to an impressive start as she beat Maisie O’Shea of Enfield GC 6 & 5 to help Hampshire beat Middlesex 4.5-2.5 in their opening match.

It was a repeat performance from both the Royal Guernsey player and Hampshire in their second match as Gaudion overcame Lilian Carter of Addington Palace 6 & 5 in a 4.5-2.5 team victory over Surrey on Tuesday morning.

She was rested for Hampshire’s comprehensive 7-0 success against Sussex on Tuesday afternoon.

Unfortunately, Hampshire just missed out on top spot yesterday as they suffered a 4.5-2.5 defeat to hosts and overall winners Kent in the final round of matches with home player Skye Fontanelli ending Gaudion’s unbeaten run for the week.

However, Gaudion had the consolation of winning the outstanding Hampshire player of the week award on her debut at this level.

Meanwhile, the Guernsey senior men’s team contains five new caps, four of who are new to the over-55s age group since the match was last played in 2019 in Dave Nicolle, Neil Tanguy, Lyndon De Carteret and Graeme Falla. Andrew Boyd is the other debutant.

‘All the selectors agreed on the 10, who happen to be the 10 lowest handicap seniors we have,’ said captain Dave Jeffery.

Jersey have named their teams for all four inter-insular clashes.

Their men’s team will be looking to retain the Challenge Trophy at L’Ancresse on 10-11 September, but will be without some big names including last year’s Hampshire champion Jo Hacker.

The Guernsey men’s team will be finalised after today’s Le Riche and Trademen’s Cups 36-hole domestic ‘major’.
