Jo Cottell has been named as the new chief executive of Guernsey Mind.

Ms Cottell was previously the charity’s general manager and she is replacing executive director Emily Litten, who has left to ‘focus on new challenges in her professional life’.

‘We are really pleased that Jo Cottell has been appointed as chief executive,’ said the charity’s chairman, Boley Smillie.

‘Jo has worked for Guernsey Mind for nearly seven years, initially developing our training services and the provision of mental health first aid locally, and then recently as general manager.

‘Jo cares deeply about the values of Guernsey Mind and we know that her strength of character and compassion is exactly what we need to lead us into the next chapter.’

Ms Cottell said she was delighted to have been asked to undertake the role of chief executive.

‘As a community our understanding of the importance of positive mental health has never been higher and I am looking forward to continuing the great work of the charity and leading the team going forward,’ she said.

Mr Smillie also recognised the charity’s growth and development under Ms Litten’s leadership.

‘The board and staff appreciate the hard work, passion and commitment Emily has shown during her time with the charity and we all wish her the very best as she embarks on the next stage of her professional career,’ he said.
