Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said his chances of playing for Sweden at the World Cup are “sky high”.

The 36-year-old, who recently joined Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy from Manchester United, retired from international football after Euro 2016.

But on Sunday the striker strongly hinted that he is ready to be picked by his country again in time for the tournament in Russia this summer, describing his prospects as “skyhoga”, which translated into English means sky high.

He wrote on Twitter: “The chance of me playing in the World Cup is skyhoga #FifaWorldCup2018”

Ibrahimovic, who has won 116 caps, has talked in the past about returning to the Sweden set-up, saying only last month: “If I want, I am there.”

Sweden are in the same group as world champions Germany, Mexico and South Korea this summer.

Svenskfotboll, Sweden’s Football Association, told Press Association Sport it was not in a position to comment on whether Ibrahimovic has officially told manager Janne Andersson he is now available for selection.
